If he were in her shoes.
If he had a brother, regardless of how close they were, should his brother give thanks to someone, but that person was distant and cold toward him, he would be upset as well.
Blood was thicker than water, after all.
With that notion, Sheldon withdrew his perfunctory and smiled warmly at Amelia.
Amelia was pleasantly surprised at the sudden change.
She knew it! She was still much more charming than Preslie!
If he could be nice to a fat and boring woman like her sister, then, needless to say, he would definitely treat a beauty like her better!
With that thought, the smile on Amelia's face grew more charming, and her coy voice could easily turn any man's bones soft.
Sheldon's bones, however, were far from soft.
Because he only had one thing in mind.
Now that he had returned the courtesy Amelia gave him, Preslie wouldn't be upset anymore.
Even though Preslie had stepped into the ward, she kept a close eye on the two of them outside.
Because of this, she almost had a heart attack.
Since she left for the ward, she noticed how much more enthusiastic Sheldon had become of Amelia, and his smile was even brighter than before!
Preslie felt as though her heart had been stabbed.
It hurt terribly!
Sheldon never smiled like that whenever she spoke to him!
She remembered telling him how bad her relationship with Amelia was, yet he was still enthusiastic toward her sister. Was beauty truly more important than everything else?!
So much so even the righteous Mr. Hawls would fall for the whims of a beautiful woman?
Sadness and disappointment grew within her, and her heart ached even more.
It turned out their long friendship was no match for Amelia's charms and enchanting figure.
All men were the same after all. All of them want a beautiful woman!
No wonder Sheldon sent her home that night. It wasn't as Yesseca said; Sheldon was a righteous man, and he would've brought any woman, not just her, back to their homes.
The truth was obvious enough.
She was no beauty.
That was why Sheldon didn't even think of taking advantage of her!
The more she thought about it, the deeper the pain she felt in her heart.
Preslie forced herself to look away from the door, for it would only be the death of her.
Instead, she kept her eyes on her mother lying on the hospital bed.
Her mother was still unconscious, wrapped in several bandages on her head. She looked like a mummy.
Calter, on the other hand, was in a brilliant mood.
Because his wife survived.
With his excellent mood, Calter didn't argue with Preslie but even struck up a conversation with her instead.
But Preslie wasn't having any of it.
She kept her head low and pretended not to have heard him.
Sheldon and Amelia chatted for quite some time, but he was beginning to lose his patience with her.
He began wondering...
"When will she stop talking?"
"Don't her cheeks hurt from all this smiling?"
He thought it was time for the conversation to end.
He already had a very long and cordial conversation with Amelia, so Preslie probably wouldn't be upset with him anymore.
He then said, "Miss Fernandez, it's been nice, but I have to go and see Preslie now."
"Mr. Hawls." Amelia tried to stop him from leaving, but Sheldon walked straight into the ward.
