Caught Him Cheating My Life Restarted (Natalie) novel Chapter 727

“You don’t know the first thing about it. Our marriage was nothing but a business deal, a cold arrangement between two families that never should have happened. I never had any feelings for her. When I left, I just hoped we could go our separate ways. I never wanted to cause her pain, but I couldn’t let that control my entire life.”

“So you just dismiss it all as an ‘arranged marriage with no feelings’ and suddenly you’re free of guilt? Look at Grace. Even in her confusion, she still hangs on your every word. She cooks for you, waits on you at dinner, and makes sure you’re bundled up against the cold like you’re her whole world. She thinks she’s spent her whole life with you, that you’re both enjoying your golden years together. She believes she’s a happy woman, but she’s just been deceived by you. I want so badly to tell her it’s all a lie, but seeing her this happy… I can’t bring myself to do it. I just want her to have a few more days of joy. But a lie is still a lie. You two are nothing but wolves circling her, waiting for the moment she lets her guard down to devour her completely.”

Catherine finished speaking and turned to head toward Grace, but Edgar stopped her with a sharp command.

“I’m warning you, I am the one who calls the shots in this family. If you want to keep your place in this family, you’ll keep your mouth shut. Otherwise, get the hell out.”

“I’m going to tell Grace the truth. Don’t think you can threaten me!”

As Mrs. Lockwood angrily turned to find Grace, Edgar’s voice, cold and measured, stopped her. “Grace coughed up blood again last night. She said she had a dream that I had died, and that she had to raise our son all by herself, living a life of hardship. The sheer grief of it was enough to break her, leaving her body as fragile as her mind. She didn’t tell you because she didn’t want you to worry.”

Mrs. Lockwood froze.

“I took her to the hospital yesterday,” Edgar continued. “The doctor was clear—her heart can’t take any more shocks. If you want her blood on your hands, then go ahead. Tell her the truth and watch her die.”

Mrs. Lockwood gritted her teeth in hatred. She spun around and glared at Edgar. “You betrayed a woman who loved you, lied to her for fifty years, and now you’re using her to squeeze out every last drop of value she has. You’ll get what’s coming to you!”

“How dare you speak to me that way? Have you no respect for your elders?”

Ignoring Edgar’s rage, Mrs. Lockwood stormed away.
