“Get out of my way.”
The doctor arrived, his face stern. “The patient was treated for a snakebite and requires further observation. He cannot be discharged now.”
Darren’s eyes were cold. “It’s fine. I can leave. We’ll take full responsibility for any consequences.”
As he spoke, he started to move. Angela had expected him to call her irrational and refuse to leave, prioritizing his own health.
But to her surprise, he seemed even more desperate than she was. He ripped the IV tube from his arm and prepared to follow her out.
Seeing him actually about to leave, she quickly stopped him.
“Wait. I was being impulsive. You’re still injured and you need to rest.”
“I’m fine. My injuries are nothing compared to the thought of losing her!”
The doctors and nurses tried to restrain him, and the scene devolved into chaos.
“Even if you go there now, Natalie won’t leave with you,” Angela said. “The Cross Group is bankrupt. You have nothing. Why would she go with you?”
Angela’s words brought Darren back to his senses. She was right. With the Cross Group gone, why would Natalie choose him?
But he couldn’t accept it. He absolutely refused to hand Natalie over to Terence.
“Like you said, if I don’t fight for her now, should I just wait for them to have a second kid?”
Angela grabbed his arm. “Listen to me, I have a plan. The priority right now is to revive the Cross Group. I’ll make sure you make a dazzling comeback. I’m going to make Natalie regret ever leaving you.”
As long as Natalie got back together with her ex-husband, Terence would be hers.
