Angela laughed heartily, clapping Darren excitedly on the shoulder. "Hey, not bad. It's rare to hear you compliment me like that. You've finally got good taste."
Darren said, "Exactly. Terence should have picked you, and then Natalie would be mine!"
Angela was speechless. So he was only complimenting her because he wanted to get Natalie?
"I really don't feel like drinking with you. You're always thinking about Natalie. What's the point? She's with my Terence now. It's just wishful thinking."
Darren said, "Yeah, you're right. There's no point. I'll stop thinking about it. Let's just drink."
Darren clinked glasses with Angela and kept throwing them back.
Angela also took a large gulp. She had originally come to talk him out of drinking, but she ended up drinking heavily herself.
After some time, Darren was dead drunk.
Since Darren was drunk, Angela took him to a hotel room.
"You can stay here tonight. Get some good sleep. Everything will be better when you wake up!"
Angela could hold her liquor better than most, thanks to her father. It was nearly impossible for an ordinary person to drink her under the table.
Angela got Darren settled and was about to leave when he grabbed her arm.
"Don't go, Natalie. Don't go. Please don't leave me, okay?"
Hearing Darren's sorrowful plea, Angela suddenly felt a pang in her heart.
He was so devoted. Why is a happy ending so damn hard to find?
"Darren, I'm not Natalie. Look at me. You need to see who's actually here. I'm not her..."
Before Angela could finish, Darren suddenly kissed her passionately.
