Divorce me I'm done serving you (Ayla) novel Chapter 418

Chapter 418 A Sudden Shift

James froze. “My best friend? Which one?”

“Mr. Storm, duh.” Halle shook off his collar and grabbed his hand, shoving him toward the door.

James finally reacted, and it hit him hard. He’d even bet Draven a million, betting on who’d get the girl first. He dared to bet because he was sure Draven’s cold, distant personality couldn’t compete with his own blazing enthusiasm. And now he and Ayla had gotten together. He couldn’t wrap his head around it and wailed, “How did he get her so fast?”

“Why not?” Halle took advantage of his stunned moment and pushed him outside. “Learn something from Mr. Storm’s character. No one is as slick-mouthed and shameless as you.”

She was about to slam the door shut. James clung to the doorframe and theatrically hissed, “You pulled too hard. You hurt me.”

Halle was speechless.

“I’m still standing right here,” James continued. “If you slam the door into my head, be careful. I might end up paralyzed and cling to you for life.”

“You’re fine.” Halle glared at him, then smiled. “Mr. Reagen, a deal’s a deal. Please leave.”

For some reason, James behaved himself this time and didn’t keep pestering her. “Alright. I keep my word.

“Then why aren’t you leaving?”

“Can’t bear to part with my neighbor. Just want one more look at you.”

Halle resisted the urge to roll her eyes. “One, two, three…”

James quickly blew her a flying kiss and finally left obediently.

The door was slammed shut without mercy. The smile on James’s face stiffened for a moment.

He really couldn’t figure it out. Ayla should’ve been the hard one to chase. Draven moved so quickly while he was still stuck at the starting line. With Halle looking at him with that kind of disdain, who knew how long it would take to win her over? And he still had to watch out for all kinds of rivals popping up nonstop.

“Fuck.” James couldn’t help swearing.

He hadn’t been in a rush before. Now the sense of crisis hit hard. Who told Draven to move so fast? He’s like the Flash.

Still, James had always had a great mindset. Since childhood, he had succeeded at whatever he did and never suffered a bit. He had friends everywhere, from toddlers to middle-aged women to people his own age. Everyone liked him. Even the sun always seemed to shine brightest on him. So his self-confidence was sky-high.

He was sure he could win Halle over.
