Ayla was trembling all over with anger. Her face had gone pale, and tears streamed down uncontrollably.
She almost gritted her teeth as she spoke, "Troy! All you know how to do is bully me! You bullied me when we were married, and you never treated me well! Even after I divorced you, I still have to deal with your bullying! How can you be this cruel? If I were Bria, would you dare treat me like this? Would you? You only act like this because I don't have parents backing me up. Because I don't have family supporting me, that's why you think you can treat me however you want!"
Ayla shouted back through tears. "Troy, how can someone be as cruel, cold, and heartless as you? What are you trying to push me into? Are you trying to drive me to death? Then come on! Come find me right now! If you've got the guts, bring a knife and stab it into my stomach! Let's die together! If I can't live, don't think you get to live either. How about that? Are you satisfied now? I'm asking you, are you satisfied now?!"
Ayla had never been this furious before. She had never lost control like this. She was truly breaking down. Troy had threatened and pressured her again and again. Normally she could only pretend to be strong when dealing with him. Now her nerves were fragile from being sick, and she could not handle this kind of stimulation anymore. And he had even used the children to threaten her. She simply could not hold on any longer.
Thinking about all the grievances she had suffered over the years and everything she had gone through, Ayla broke down in tears from sheer anger.
She was someone who valued life deeply, yet she had been pushed to the point of saying things like this.
Even if she got back together with Draven, things would only be like they were in the past. Troy was a madman. He would destroy everything without caring about the consequences.
Ayla felt hopeless. She shouted hysterically, "Troy, I wish you would just disappear! Maybe then my life would finally be peaceful!"
Ayla had lived for 25 years and had never been this furious, this undignified, this completely out of control. All the emotions she had suppressed for years erupted at once.
After shouting, Ayla threw her phone heavily onto the floor.
Throwing things was not a good habit. It gave people the impression of emotional violence. But in this moment, she could not endure it anymore.
The moment the phone left her hand, Ayla felt a strange sense of release. It was a kind of venting.
If Troy could simply disappear from her world, maybe she would finally be happier.
But when she realized she had even thought something so vicious, Ayla collapsed even further. That dark side of herself had been forced out by Troy. She was not supposed to be this kind of person. The realization made her feel like she was going crazy.
Her body trembled uncontrollably. Her breathing became rapid.
When people broke down, they completely lost their rationality and were swept away by extreme emotions.
Ayla felt like a drowning person desperately trying to breathe, yet somehow forgetting how to breathe.
She clearly knew she should not feel this way, but her body betrayed her will again. Hearing his words gave her a sense of safety.
Ayla looked at him for several seconds. Then she suddenly threw herself into Draven's arms. Her arms wrapped tightly around his waist, holding him as tightly as she could, as if trying to absorb all the warmth from him.
Draven held her tightly as well. When the storm of emotions inside him slowly settled, he gently patted Ayla's back.
She was not short, yet in this moment she looked so thin and small that Draven felt like his heart was breaking.
"Ayla." He could not say anything else. He only wanted to call her name.
After Ayla regained a little of her rationality, she gritted her teeth and asked, "Do you... do you know what to do?"
Draven's jaw tightened, but his voice turned cold. "You don't need to deal with Troy anymore. I'll make sure he can never trouble you again."
Ayla grabbed the back of his shirt tightly, almost tearing at it. Right now she felt like nowhere was safe. "How could you do that? How can you help me? Troy is like something that won't go away. He's a madman, a paranoid one. When his life falls apart, he drags everyone else down with him. That's exactly what he's doing now. Tell me, how are you going to help me?"
