Eleven Years All to the Wrong Man novel Chapter 240

“Oh.”

Emma listened, looking at the unfinished piece of pineapple in her hand. She debated whether to throw it away, but thinking it would be a waste, she shoved the whole thing into her mouth and mumbled, “Okay, I get it, Mr. Allen. I’ll be careful next time!”

She'd finish this one and just be careful later.

Nathan couldn’t help but feel a little exasperated looking at her.

“How are you feeling today? Any discomfort?”

Emma thought about it seriously before shaking her head with conviction. “I don’t think so…”

She felt that her body had been recovering quite well lately. Since starting chemo, she had experienced almost no headaches or nausea, and her overall mental and physical state was good.

Hearing her feedback, Nathan nodded. He walked over to her side and carefully examined the arm where she’d had a new round of blood work done to check her clotting function.

“Good, no adverse reactions. That means you’re recovering well. Your condition is relatively stable and gradually improving. If we find a bone marrow match, we can basically proceed with the surgery.”

Nathan spoke as he jotted notes in her chart.

Emma’s face lit up. “Doesn’t that mean I’m close to being healthy again!”

“...Yes.”

Seeing how happy she was, Nathan fell unusually silent, not wanting to say anything to spoil her mood.

With the examination finished, Nathan and the intern left the room.

Kelly, who was still washing fruit nearby, waited until Nathan was gone before turning to Emma and asking quietly, “Ms. Hayes, will you be eating any more fruit?”

“Ah, never mind, Kelly. I’ll skip it. You can have it.”

She had to take care of her own body, after all.

After completing his rounds, Nathan returned to his office and immediately dialed the director of the bone marrow transplant center.

When he was once again told there was still no match for Emma, Nathan silently hung up the phone. He took off his glasses and wearily pinched the bridge of his nose.
