Eleven Years All to the Wrong Man novel Chapter 258

Emma looked at her mother, her heart aching a little. “Why aren’t you eating? Do you not like the food, or is it not to your taste?”

Karen Hayes replied, “No, it’s delicious. I was just waiting for you.”

It was Sunday, and Daniel was at the mall with his new girlfriend, shopping for a purse.

He had broken his hand in a car accident a few days ago, and his right arm was still in a sling, but despite his injury, he was determined to go on a date.

After they bought the purse and were heading downstairs to eat, his sharp eyes immediately spotted Emma and the older woman sitting beside her.

Seeing him staring at the mother-daughter pair, his new girlfriend assumed he was interested in the younger woman. She immediately let go of his hand and said angrily, “You don’t love me at all! Your heart isn’t in this!”

As he pulled his phone out of his pocket with his left hand, Daniel tried to placate her. “Baby, baby, please, let me explain!”

Evan had just answered his phone when all he could hear was Daniel trying to soothe his girlfriend on the other end.

Thinking it was a misdial, he hung up without a word.

But less than a minute later, Daniel called again.

Evan frowned, annoyed, but answered the call.

“Hey! Man, why’d you hang up on me? Your mother-in-law is here, did you know that?”

Daniel got straight to the point, dropping the bombshell he had just witnessed.

“My mother-in-law?”

Evan wasted no time and headed straight for the supermarket.

Melissa had only stayed at the hospital until noon before leaving for the grocery store. She knew Evan had been busy with work engagements the past few days and hadn’t been home for dinner in a while.

When she received a message from him that morning saying he would be home for dinner that night, she was so happy that she decided to go grocery shopping early to prepare.

She was pushing her cart in the condiment aisle, holding a bottle of soy sauce and checking the expiration date, when she suddenly looked up and saw a tall, imposing figure.

A man in a sharp suit was standing in an open area of the supermarket, looking around as if searching for someone.

At first, Melissa thought she was mistaken, but after a closer look, she confirmed it was Evan. She hastily put down the soy sauce, hurried forward a few steps, and waved her hand cheerfully. “Evan, I’m over here!”
