Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 733

Naturally, the outside world constantly misconstrued the nature of their relationship.

Lillian never bothered to correct the rumors. People could think whatever they wanted.

In the past, she had tried to protect her marriage to Sebastian by stepping back from her career, to the point where she barely kept tabs on what Nathan was doing.

But those chains were gone now. She was free to live her life exactly on her own terms.

More importantly, she loved the life she had built.

Why should she care about the opinions of strangers?

At the dinner table, both Nathan and Victor couldn't stop raving about the food.

Even Victor, who was notoriously a picky eater, practically cleaned his plate.

"Now I get why you're always in such a rush to head home, Ms. Mercer," Victor said, leaning back in his chair.

"Having a chef like this is an absolute blessing. If I had food like this waiting for me, I'd clock out right at five every single day."

Lillian immediately seized the opportunity. "You said it yourself, and I'm holding you to it. I'll hire a private chef for you tomorrow. From now on, you are strictly forbidden from sleeping at the office. You're going to get the hell out of there and eat at home."

Victor stammered, caught off guard. "Uh..."

He quickly recovered with a sheepish grin. "The company is my home! I love my work more than anything. Let's just drop it. I like living in my office. If you make me sleep in a real bed, I'll probably get insomnia."

Lillian gave him an exasperated eye roll.

With the technical details out of the way, Nathan shifted the conversation to more pressing matters.

"Okay, fair point," Victor muttered, instantly conceding.

Leonard took the opportunity to speak up. "Lillian, Nathan is right. Are you mentally prepared to be thrust back into the public eye?"

"With your history and the recent scandals, there's no telling how the media will spin this. If the pressure gets to be too much, you need to tell me immediately."

"I don't feel any pressure at all," Lillian said, her gaze steady. "This company is everything I've wanted since I got out of prison. I've dreamed of watching it take off."

"I fought tooth and nail for this. I deserve to stand at the top under my own name."

"As for the media circus, it won't affect me in the slightest."

"When it comes to the Blake family and the Mercer family, I was never the one at fault!"
