Rumors of Sebastian and Bella's impending nuptials had been swirling around the Blake Group for weeks. The legal team had anticipated this, so when Sebastian requested a draft, they already had several templates ready to go.
The first option the lawyers presented offered Bella a substantial safety net, including a minuscule percentage of company shares. As Sebastian read it, his expression darkened. His jaw tightened in obvious displeasure.
The attorneys had no idea Sebastian intended to leave Bella with nothing. She was an executive within the company, well-regarded and respected. Everyone knew they had been together for years. It was naturally assumed that he would want to provide her with the absolute best now that they were making it official.
Crucially, Sebastian had never communicated his bottom line. He hadn't specified what he was willing to part with, so the legal team had been shooting in the dark. Seeing his thunderous expression, the seasoned lawyers quickly pivoted.
"Mr. Blake," the lead attorney began carefully. "You didn't require a prenuptial agreement during your first marriage, so we put together a few varying options based on your brief notes. If this one doesn't align with your vision, we can certainly review the alternatives."
Sebastian responded by ripping the document in half. "Do you even understand the purpose of a prenup?"
He didn't need to elaborate. The legal team instantly slid a second folder across the desk.
It was the most draconian option they had drafted—a failsafe they hadn't expected to actually use. Sebastian stared at the cover before opening it. "Is this one going to be garbage, too?"
Now, on the precipice of his second marriage, he was taking no chances. If the relationship went up in flames, the Blake Group would remain entirely shielded. A divorce could be handled quietly and cleanly—just like his split with Lillian, which had been so deeply buried that no one even knew she had ever been married.
"Understood, Mr. Blake," the attorney nodded. "We will finalize the documentation, and it will be ready for you and Ms. Ward to sign."
"Good. Get it done quickly," Sebastian ordered.
With the wedding date looming and no viable way out, Sebastian's only option was to ruthlessly protect his assets.
