Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 799

He absolutely refused to let someone else reap the rewards of his hard work. The shareholders and board members watched the Blake Group's finances like hawks, constantly looking for a reason to oust him. Beyond corporate pressure, he simply had no intention of taking a personal financial hit. There was zero chance Sebastian was walking to the altar unprotected.

The legal team moved with incredible speed, delivering the polished agreement to his desk shortly after. This was the real reason he had texted Bella about visiting her. While she was sick in bed, he could play the doting fiancé, offer some comfort, and conveniently slide the prenup into the conversation. They were running out of time before the ceremony; he needed her signature now.

Sebastian reviewed the document one final time. Satisfied that every loophole was closed, he slipped it into his briefcase.

Bella spent the entire day confined to her hotel room, wincing through the agonizing pain. She had endured the old man's cruelty before, but it had never hurt this badly. She couldn't tell if it was because she was getting older, or because years of luxury had softened her skin. Whatever the reason, every strike of the whip had felt like pure torture.

She had meticulously cleaned and dressed her own injuries, just like she used to, yet she had still spiked a fever. That had never happened before. She forced herself to eat a late room-service lunch, terrified of anyone discovering her secret.

She couldn't even tell her own mother. She had left that dark chapter of her life behind years ago; Sabrina would never suspect she'd returned to Silas. Plus, she couldn't let her mother find out how deep in debt she was with the loan sharks. It would only cause a panic.

She managed to fall asleep again in the afternoon, only to be jolted awake by her ringing phone. It was Sebastian. He had gotten off work early and was on his way to see her. He asked for her hotel details.

Panic flared. Debbie was staying right next door, and Bella desperately wanted to avoid them crossing paths. Given her current physical state, intercepting him in the lobby was impossible. She tried to deflect and tell him not to come, but Sebastian wasn't taking no for an answer. Even if she refused to give him her room number, it would take him mere minutes to track her down. He was already en route to the hotel.

"Mr. Blake, are you confident Ms. Ward will sign this?"
