Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 807

"You should have told me sooner," Debbie cooed, dripping with fake sympathy. "I would have figured something out for you."

Bella bit her lip in frustration. "I did tell you I was strapped for cash, Ms. Harris."

"Oh, dear... I had no idea it was this serious," Debbie stammered.

"So, when can we expect those funds back?" Bella pushed. "Once that money comes in, I can settle my debts."

Debbie squeezed Bella's hands tighter. "Don't you worry. Since it's an emergency, I promise I'll get that money back for you before the end of the month. You have my word."

Bella offered a strained smile. "Thank you. Let's consider it a deal."

"Of course! I'm about to be your mother-in-law. Would I ever steer you wrong? Hurting you would mean hurting my only son. I only want what's best for both of you."

Bella believed her. After all, what mother didn't love her son?

Bella's heart skipped a beat. She had hidden Debbie here without telling Sebastian. If he found out his mother had been hiding in the city for weeks, he would be furious. With the marriage license on the line, she couldn't afford any missteps. If mother and son had actually bumped into each other, Sebastian would have undoubtedly blamed her.

Suppressing a surge of panic, Bella quickly tried to shut down the idea.

"Ms. Harris, our wedding is just around the corner. Why don't you save the surprise for the big day? You've waited this long; holding off until the ceremony will make the reveal so much more impactful for him."

Debbie looked hesitant. "You really think so?"
