"Absolutely," Bella reassured her. "I've been with him for years. I know how his mind works. When you show up at the wedding, he'll be absolutely thrilled."
Debbie nodded slowly. "Alright, I'll trust your judgment. You're a smart girl; I know you'll pick the perfect moment for us to reunite. It's just..." She let the sentence trail off, leaving a heavy pause.
"Just what? Are you worried about something?"
"Well, Sebastian comes to this hotel pretty often, right? We're bound to bump into each other eventually. If we accidentally run into each other in the hallway, it completely ruins the surprise."
Debbie had artfully steered the conversation, forcing Bella to be the one to suggest a move.
Bella had already been stressing over that exact scenario. "You're right. How about we move you to a different hotel? I can't leave this one just yet, but I can set you up somewhere further away from the Blake Group headquarters. What do you think?"
Debbie put on a reluctant face, letting Bella persuade her for a few more minutes before finally giving in. "Alright, if you insist. I'll move. I'll save the big reunion for the wedding."
Relieved that a disaster was averted, Bella immediately called the concierge to pack Debbie's belongings and booked a suite at another hotel.
Lucas was disappointed to leave the lavish penthouse, but the new location was exactly what Debbie had secretly wanted—it was much closer to the casino. While the room wasn't as luxurious, she didn't care about the thread count of the sheets. She only cared about her proximity to the VIP tables. Her time in Northwyn was running out, and she needed to blow through the rest of that credit line.
Lucas instantly understood. These rich society wives always had to return to their real lives eventually, probably to some wealthy old husband. His instincts had been right all along—Bella was the real prize, the long-term investment. He made a mental note to find a way to track her down later.
Meanwhile, Sebastian had finalized every detail. The Blake Pre-Nuptial Agreement was signed, sealed, and approved by the Shareholders. The Board was ecstatic with the terms, finding the financial firewalls utterly flawless. Not a word of the agreement was leaked to the press, but the entire Blake Group was buzzing with the news that the wedding was officially happening.
The excitement had spread through the elite social circles like wildfire.
When Bella finally returned to the office, her bruises had faded to faint shadows.
