Celia refused to let Lillian shoulder the financial burden of her mistakes.
She was determined to compress a fifteen-day workload into a single week, leaving the following week entirely for the flight trials.
It was the only way to alleviate the crushing guilt in her chest.
She practically lived on the factory floor, working day and night. Concerned by the reports from Mr. Miller, Emma Ruiz immediately alerted Lillian.
"Ms. Mercer, Miss Bennett is going to work herself into an early grave," Emma said worriedly. "She's been sleeping two hours a night for three days straight. Not even a machine could sustain that."
Lillian completely understood the fierce loyalty driving Celia, but she wasn't about to let her lead engineer drop dead.
"Two hours is unacceptable," Lillian ordered sharply. "Tell her I am mandating a strict six-hour sleep schedule. She must eat three full meals and a midnight snack. If she follows those rules, she can work as much overtime as she wants.
"If she refuses, lock her out of the factory. She'll listen to that."
"Will she?" Emma asked doubtfully. "Are we supposed to assign a guard to watch her sleep?"
"If necessary, yes. Her work requires immense cognitive function. Burning out will only sabotage the project further. Also, don't tell her this, but hire a private physician to remain on standby at the factory. If she collapses, I want immediate medical intervention."
"Understood, Ms. Mercer," Emma said, nodding."I'll make sure it's done. My only concern is that she might not cooperate."
"She'll understand my intentions and cooperate," Lillian replied.
Emma drove straight to the Northwyn manufacturing plant.
