Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 820

Emma personally escorted Celia back to her apartment. The moment the door opened, Amy came running down the hall.

"Auntie Celia! You're finally home!" Amy hugged her waist, looking up with wide, concerned eyes. "You look so tired."

Emma quickly instructed the nanny to prepare a hot meal so Celia could eat before crashing.

Celia hugged the little girl tightly. "Auntie just had to work a little extra, sweetheart. I'm not tired. Have you been listening to your tutor?"

The tutor stepped out of the living room, giving Celia a brief, positive update on Amy's progress.

Guilt washed over Celia again. She had been entirely absent lately, neglecting the emotional needs of a child who craved her presence.

The factory deadline had consumed her.

"Auntie, I'll go get you some water and snacks!" Amy chirped, scurrying off to the kitchen.

Watching the sweet, resilient child, Celia felt a lump in her throat.

Emma placed a hand on Celia's shoulder.

"Your work is vital, but so is your family.

"No one is holding a gun to your head regarding this deadline. Working yourself to death isn't noble—it's reckless.

"If you die of exhaustion, what happens to Amy?

"She finally escaped that nightmare of a family. Are you going to rip away her second chance at life?

"Ms. Mercer told me to keep this a secret, but she hired a medical team to stay at the factory just to monitor you. That's how worried she is."

The revelation struck Celia deeply.

"I understand," she whispered. "Six hours of sleep.

"I promise I won't skip them anymore.

"Three meals a day, plus a midnight snack."
