Following Damien's orders without a moment's hesitation, several bodyguards moved forward and seized Lilian, who was still in a daze.

“No! You can't do this to me! Mr. Clarke! Everything I said is true!”

A strange atmosphere settled over the banquet hall.

Damien, however, acted as if nothing had happened.

Leaning against his solid chest and inhaling the familiar scent of cedar, Grace felt the tension she’d been holding finally begin to ease.

Damien lifted her face, his thumb gently stroking the corner of her eye, his own eyes filled with heartache.

“Those photos… they’re from your past. A past I wasn’t a part of.”

He paused, his gaze sweeping across the room. His voice wasn’t loud, but it resonated with authority.

“I don’t care whose wife she was before, and I don’t care who she used to love.”

“All I know is that from this day forward, Grace is my fiancée, the person I will spend the rest of my life protecting.”
