“What took you so long?”

Damien frowned, his tone thick with displeasure.

Grace looked at him and suddenly smiled.

She walked over quickly, though her leg still had a slight limp, pulled open the car door, and burrowed into Damien’s arms.

Damien grunted from the impact but instinctively held her tight.

He sensed that something was off with her mood.

“I want to eat an apple. Will you peel it for me?”
