Even though she was out of the cold storage, Grace still felt a bone-chilling cold.
Gradually, her head grew heavy, and her consciousness began to fade. She wrapped herself tightly in the blankets and fell into a deep sleep.-
She didn’t know how much time had passed before the shock of ice-cold water yanked her from her dreams.
“Ah!”
Soaked through the blankets, Grace shivered uncontrollably.
The terror of the previous night in the cold storage rushed back over her. She curled into a ball, her eyelashes fluttering as she looked toward the side of the bed.
Cassian stood there, his face contorted with rage.
“You have the nerve to sleep!”
Without another word, Cassian dragged Grace from the bed. “Lilian was bringing you food and accidentally fell at the door, cutting her leg. She’s already anemic. You’re coming to the hospital with me to give her blood.”
His forceful demeanor left Grace no opportunity to even speak.
By the time she was pushed onto a chair, Grace was still in a daze.
“Draw it!” Cassian’s voice was devoid of emotion.
Grace’s lips were pale. After being frozen all night, she was in terrible shape. If they drew hundreds of milliliters of blood...
She tried to say something, but Cassian held her shoulders down firmly.
As the crimson blood left her body, Grace felt lightheaded, on the verge of passing out.
“That’s four hundred milliliters,” the nurse said, preparing to stop.
But Cassian stopped her forcefully. “Draw another two hundred. Maybe that will teach her a lesson!”
The nurse instinctively wanted to object.
A normal person would need several days to recover after donating four hundred milliliters, let alone this young woman who already looked so weak...
But it was their family matter, and his request wasn't against protocol. Believing it was better not to get involved, the nurse kept quiet.
By the time the blood draw was finished, Grace felt disconnected from her own body.
