Five Years Wasted Now They Beg Her Back novel Chapter 32

She held the phone to her ear without a word.

There was a brief silence on the other end, as if the person was composing themselves.

Then, a man’s voice, intentionally gentle but still laced with an undertone of condescension, came through.

“Grace... it’s your father.”

A tiny, cold smile touched the corners of Grace’s lips.

Father?

What a distant and laughable title.

She had thought this man had long forgotten he even had a daughter named Grace.

“Yes.”

She managed to squeeze out a single syllable.

Mr. Hart, on the other end of the line, seemed taken aback by her reaction and paused again.

He had expected her to be either overwhelmed with flattery or to start sobbing about her grievances.

But that one cool syllable left him with a whole speech stuck in his throat.

“Um... I saw what happened online,” Mr. Hart cleared his throat, continuing to play the part of a benevolent father. “You’ve been wronged.”

“The family misunderstood you before.”

“I’m here to apologize to you on behalf of your brothers and Lilian.”

Grace scoffed internally.

An apology?

Where was he when Lucian was choking her, pinning her to the floor?

Where was he when Cassian was pointing a finger in her face, calling her shameless and a disgrace to the Hart family?

And where was he when Lilian framed her, and they all ganged up to push her down the stairs?

Now, her paper had stunned the world.

The name Grace Hart had become something countless people looked up to.

And now he suddenly remembered he was her father.

“Grace, look, you’ve just recovered. It’s not good for you to be staying outside.”

“Come home.”
