From Ashes of Scandals to His Embrace novel Chapter 545

Laurinda and her friends had spent several carefree days at the lavender estate before heading back to the city together when Shirley got word that her father had returned.

After dinner, Adolphus and Laurinda took a stroll over to his grandparents’ house. As they stepped into the inner courtyard, Tanya’s voice drifted over, full of praise for Laurinda.

“That girl is truly gorgeous. If Adolphus weren’t such a handsome boy himself, he’d hardly be worthy of her.”

Overhearing this, Laurinda turned to study Adolphus’s striking features, her gaze lingering on his well-defined jaw and sharp eyes. She nodded, satisfied. “Not bad. You really are pretty good-looking.”

Adolphus looked down at her, the evening light softening his features and highlighting the sharp, handsome lines of his face.

Laurinda couldn’t help but murmur under her breath, “Those eyelashes, seriously.”

Just then, Seraphina heard the commotion and poked her head out, catching sight of the pair standing close together in the golden wash of evening light—making quite a picture.

“When did you two get here? Have you eaten?” she called out.

“We have, thanks. I picked up some medicinal herbs for your health—I thought the kitchen could use them to whip up something restorative for Mom and Dad,” Adolphus replied, handing over both a slip of paper and a small bag.

He took Laurinda’s hand and led her into the living room. Spread out across the coffee table were countless photos, all snapshots from their recent adventures at the lavender fields.
