From Ashes of Scandals to His Embrace novel Chapter 547

Laurinda lingered with Tanya for a while longer, chatting quietly. When Felix finally returned, Adolphus stayed behind to play a game of chess with him. Only after their match did Laurinda and Adolphus say their goodbyes and leave the Lane family home.

No sooner had the door closed behind them than Tanya leaned in to share Adolphus’s intentions with Felix. He didn’t look the least bit surprised.

“Let’s wait until the semester starts to move, then,” Laurinda decided.

“Sounds good. Are you planning to head to the lab again soon?”

Adolphus had noticed she’d been pouring over research at home lately. He was curious if she was gearing up for another round of experiments.

“Not yet. Right now I’m working on a paper. I probably won’t be going in for a while.”

Laurinda drew herself up a little higher on his back, looping her arms loosely around his neck and pressing her cheek against his.
