This was his answer to me, his retaliation for my taunts about playing the field with a string of handsome men.
Frankly, dealing with one lunatic like him was more than enough. He had utterly humiliated me, but how dare he act so recklessly in front of so many people just because of a few sarcastic remarks?
The attendees of this auction were all prominent figures from various industries. If it weren't for Leonard, I probably wouldn't have even gotten in. Now, all those people had seen them engaging in such an shameless public display in the elevator. What on earth was that twisted pervert trying to do?
Gossip travels fast. Everyone knew Steven's face. For him to brazenly kiss a woman in an elevator without a care in the world—I was certain that within a day, the tabloids would be having a field day. The socialites and business moguls eager to curry favor with him would scramble to uncover my identity to suit his tastes!
When we were secretly married, no one knew who Steven's wife was. He barely ever appeared with me at any events, acting as if he wanted nothing to do with me. Now that we were divorced, he was suddenly putting on this grand spectacle, as if he wanted the whole world to know he was still tangled up with his ex-wife?
Was he out of his mind?
I was seething, my anger bubbling over. I yanked my hand free and slapped him across the face.
"Steven, if you're sick, go see a doctor! Stop acting like a rabid dog, biting anyone you see. The sight of you makes me sick. Now get the hell out of my sight!"
Steven didn't even flinch. He just stood there and took the hit. A set of red fingerprints instantly appeared on his handsome, refined face. Suddenly, I heard another sharp gasp. A crowd of people had just stepped out of the other elevator, and they were all staring, dumbfounded, at me bullying Steven.
Gordon mumbled weakly, "Mr. Lancaster, you and your wife seem busy. I'll talk to you later…"
In an instant, all eyes were on me—curious, probing, and even envious. I could hear their whispers.
