I gave a cool smile. "If she wants a fight, we'll give her one."
I was already furious. She'd better not provoke me, or I'd make her pay dearly.
Ryan nodded in agreement and grinned, handing me the list.
"This is the auction catalog. See if there's anything you want, and then we can… Hey, what happened to your mouth?"
"My mouth?" I asked, confused. Then I remembered Steven's relentless, infuriating kisses. My heart skipped a beat as I pulled out my phone to check.
My lips were red and swollen, the unmistakable result of a passionate, forceful kiss. I clenched my jaw and put the phone away, my bright eyes blazing. "It's nothing. Just a little under the weather."
That bastard Steven! He did this on purpose!
If Ryan hadn't been my brother, but someone I was seeing, he would have seen this and assumed I was still entangled with my ex. He'd have broken things off for sure!
That dog. A classic dog in the manger. If he couldn't have me, no one could. Who could be more despicable?
Ryan immediately said, "I'll make you some soup when we get home. You just got over being sick; we can't have you catching a cold again."
I didn't object, instead focusing on the catalog. Apart from the item Ron wanted, the eighth piece on the list caught my eye.
The Gilded Jade Go Set. I didn't know much about Go, but I remembered Uncle Julian loved to play. The set was so beautiful; he would surely love it as a gift.
Seeing my gaze fixed on the Go set, Ryan leaned in. "You're interested in this? It's a Go set that's warm in the winter and cool in the summer, made entirely of jade. It's exquisite, the most complete set of its kind preserved today, though a few pieces are slightly damaged."
