Few people knew I had been sick. I looked at him, puzzled. "You knew I was ill?"
Gordon replied, "Of course. The night you had a high fever at the hotel, Mr. Lancaster was there taking care of you personally. I was the one who bought the medicine and arranged for it to be sent over. What, you didn't see Mr. Lancaster?"
My heart jolted, and my expression shifted.
"What did you say? Steven was really there that night?"
Ryan's expression also changed slightly.
Gordon frowned. "Yes. After you left that morning, Mr. Lancaster was suffering from a severe headache. He was supposed to go to the hospital for another CT scan, but for some reason, he insisted on going to Baxo with you. I arranged his travel, and he arrived around seven in the evening."
"Around eleven that night, Mr. Lancaster called me, saying you weren't feeling well and asked me to buy some specific medicine and cooling patches. From what I know, he stayed with you all night and only got a room next door to rest after your fever broke. Did you really not see him at all, ma'am?"
I did see him. I even spoke to him. But afterward, when I saw no medicine box, no trace of Steven ever having been there, and knew the hotel wasn't one of his, I just assumed I'd had a strange dream in my feverish state.
I never imagined it was real.
An indescribable look crossed my face, my eyes filled with complex emotions. "If he was there, why did he erase all signs that he'd taken care of me? What's wrong with him?"
When did Steven start doing good deeds without seeking recognition?
Ryan stood quietly by my side, not saying a word.
Gordon explained earnestly, "Perhaps he was afraid of making you angry. You've seemed to dislike Mr. Lancaster quite a bit recently."
"Also, you and this young man by your side seem to be quite close. So intimate. Anyone who didn't know would assume you two are together."
