I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 430

With that, he looked back at Steven, his smile fawning. “Mr. Lancaster, young people can be so stubborn. I’ve disciplined her for you.”

Steven, who had been leaning on his hand, the ring on his finger catching the light, looked over at me. His handsome face seemed to darken. “You… disciplined her? For me?”

I looked at Steven, unable to tell if he was pleased or angry. All I knew was that I was furious. With disgusting men like this around, it was no wonder it was so hard for women to succeed in business.

I vowed that one day I would be successful enough to hire only female employees and spare them from ever having to attend these vile, degrading dinners.

I let out a defiant sneer and poured the entire glass of hard liquor directly over Zachary’s head.

The room erupted in shocked gasps. Megan looked at me with pure terror in her eyes.

“Z-Zephyra…”

Zachary was so stunned he couldn’t even react for a moment. Then his face turned a furious shade of purple, his eyes glaring at me with a vicious, predatory look that was a far cry from his earlier respectable facade. It was as if he wanted to tear me to shreds.

I wasn't afraid. I met his gaze and said coldly, “Do you know who I am? My track record includes beating up Mr. Lancaster’s own mother and brother, and his mistress until she was black and blue. You want to be next?”

The news hit the room like another bombshell. The expressions on everyone’s faces grew even more complicated.

Zachary froze, his face a mask of disbelief. “What?”

Megan, her voice trembling, turned to Steven. “Mr. Lancaster, did Zephyra really do all that?”

My heart leaped into my throat. I was sure Steven would expose my bluff. I was about to say something, but then I saw a small smile play on his lips. His tone was laced with something that sounded almost like indulgence.

“She did. Not only did she hit my mother and my brother, she even sent me to the hospital. She’s a shrew. A very fierce one.”

Everyone was stunned yet again, their eyes wide as they stared at me.

Zachary instantly deflated. Realizing he had crossed someone he shouldn’t have, he hastily wiped the liquor from his face and bowed obsequiously, a fawning smile plastered on his face.

“I-I’m so sorry, Ms. Jones! I was blind! I didn’t realize your relationship with Mr. Lancaster was so… special. You’re not feeling well, right? Please, go and get some rest. Don’t overtire yourself.”

I, on the other hand, was covered in goosebumps. I stared at Steven in utter disbelief.

Had Steven taken the wrong medication today? He was actually helping me?

He had helped me before, but only when he wasn’t angry. After the car crash, he should have hated my guts, or at the very least, been resentful. For him to step in and help me now was not just unusual; it was downright bizarre.
