Did he think that by suppressing Horace, he could make me submit? Pathetic!
I never wanted to fight Steven in the first place. His wealth is too vast, his power too entrenched, and his family background is far beyond what I can handle. But now, I have to win tomorrow’s competition. I have to expand my reputation and make my company bigger and stronger!
Once I’m powerful enough, the first thing I’ll do is take down that bastard Steven. We’ll see how arrogant he is then!
The more I thought about it, the angrier I became. In my past life, I loved him to death and lived a miserable, stifled existence. Now that I’m reborn and just want to focus on my career, he’s still chasing and threatening me. I must owe him something from a past life!
I was so furious I got a stomachache. Clutching my abdomen, I pulled out my key card, violently shoved the door open, and then slammed it shut behind me, completely unaware that someone had been watching me, their eyes wide with shock…
Meanwhile, Gordon watched the voice messages pop up one after another on his phone, then glanced at Steven, who sat before him, his face a cold, silent mask. Gordon spoke cautiously.
“Mr. Lancaster, that was the last of her messages.”
Steven’s handsome face remained expressionless, his voice low and cold. “Continue tomorrow. Handle it well.”
“Understood.” Gordon asked meekly, “Should I still prepare lunch for Madam tomorrow?”
Steven shot him a look, and Gordon immediately corrected himself. “I’ll have it prepared in advance.”
He muttered under his breath, “Even when he’s about to explode with anger, Mr. Lancaster doesn’t dare let her go hungry. It’s like he gets it, but he also doesn’t get it at all…”
Steven’s eyes held a piercing chill. He pulled out another cigarette and his lighter, the flame igniting as he lit it. Pale smoke curled into the air.
He rarely smoked, but today, there were at least a dozen cigarette butts in the ashtray.
Gordon ventured, “Mr. Lancaster, it sounds like Madam is very angry. If you keep up this aggressive approach, aren’t you worried you’ll just push her further away?”
Steven’s elegant features showed no ripple of emotion. “Do you think she responds to a softer approach?” he asked flatly. “She’s already thrown a massive tantrum, and even after the divorce, she refuses to give up. She’s still entangled with Horace, letting him kiss her, letting him hold her. She even dared to kiss him.”
The lighter clicked again and again, the blue flame flickering in the dim light.
His voice was hoarse, his lips curved into a dark, hostile line. “I’ve been far too lenient with her. If I don’t make her suffer a little, she won’t come back to me obediently.”
