Elsewhere.
Horace burst furiously into the executive conference room. Steven and several investors were reviewing a list of designers, discussing contract terms and investment issues.
Horace was stopped at the door by several security guards.
“Steven! Where did you take Zephyra?!”
Gordon, standing beside Steven, glanced at the young man on the sofa, whose expression remained coolly indifferent, and his eyes sharpened.
“Zephyra didn't show up for the final round?”
The other investors fell silent.
Horace’s face was grim, his eyes burning with a rage that could tear someone apart. “Wasn't it you who had her abducted? Steven, there's a limit to your madness. If you dare to hurt her, I will make sure you die a horrible death!”
Steven’s expression was one of pure disdain, a mocking smile playing on his lips.
“Throw him out.”
Horace’s face darkened. “Steven!”
Gordon nodded and gestured for the guards to remove Horace, but then his phone buzzed with a text message.
He glanced at it, and his expression changed abruptly. He handed the phone to Steven. “Mr. Lancaster, look.”
On the screen was a photo of two women, tied up separately, their eyes closed as if they were unconscious…
…
The sea breeze whipped around me, making me shiver from the cold. I stared at Verna, who was tied up next to me, completely shocked.
I never expected that Verna would be kidnapped too.
That meant this wasn't the work of one of my competitors.
