"Wife?" The guests began whispering among themselves, looking back and forth at the stage.
Rachel's smile vanished, her brow furrowed in concern.
My face changed. "Steven, what nonsense are you talking about? We're already divorced. Who's your wife?"
"We're divorced, but can't we get married again?" Steven said, strolling towards me, his voice maintaining its usual calm rhythm and tone.
"We remarried a long time ago. You just forgot, and you've been throwing a tantrum and refusing to come home with me, so I kept it a secret."
As my expression grew more and more astonished, he reached me, a soft, sinister smile on his handsome face, which seemed to be suppressing a torrent of rage in his eyes.
"You didn't know, so I don't blame you. But we were sleeping in the same bed just half a month ago. You could be carrying my child, yet you're about to marry another man without even telling me. Zephyra, you’re cruel."
His words sent shockwaves through the room. Everyone stared, their eyes wide with disbelief.
Mr. Lopez Sr. and Julian were even more incredulous.
I was completely stunned, the double blow leaving my mind blank.
Remarried? Slept together?
Setting aside the remarriage, which was utter nonsense, the night in Sonha was a fact.
But that night wasn't consensual. He had forced me! You bastard!
My eyes turned red with fury, and I swung my hand to slap him.
"Steven!"
But my hand never reached his face. Steven caught my wrist.
He looked down at me, his lips curling slightly, as if he were a perfectly composed gentleman, but there was no trace of a smile in his eyes.
"This habit of yours of resorting to violence is truly terrible. You need to change it."
Horace grabbed Steven's hand, his usually gentle face now ice-cold, his eyes boring into him.
"Mr. Lancaster, we're all reasonable people. Let's not push this to the point where it becomes too awkward to handle. Let go of her."
Steven glanced at Horace and sneered. "You should be glad Zephyra's family is sitting in the audience, otherwise—"
