I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 549

"Mrs. Lancaster. Filing for divorce again?"

I had neither the time nor the patience.

"No small talk. Did you review the files I sent you this afternoon? What are my chances of winning?"

Noah was Steven's arch-rival, his adversary since childhood. They both came from powerful families with business empires spanning commerce and politics.

When I'd first tried to divorce Steven, no lawyer in the city would take my case—except for him. So, when I decided to bring Steven down, he was the first person I thought of. And I was willing to bet he'd be interested in taking a shot at Steven.

Noah chuckled. "I've looked it over. Can you get me what I need?"

Noah's conditions were different every time. This time, he wanted the core of one of Steven's projects—not the overseas one, but the bidding price for the elevator contract.

He had even told me who was in charge—someone from the overseas team, which was why I went there. Unfortunately, while I saw the proposal, Yves wouldn't let me see the document.

I answered calmly, "I can get you whatever you want. I can even throw in some confidential information on Aether Studio's overseas projects as a bonus. We need some insurance here. I'll give you the bonus first. The day you represent me in court, I'll give you the real prize—the bid price. How does that sound?"

Noah considered it for a moment, then laughed again. "Ms. Jones, Aether Studio's overseas project is moving full steam ahead. Once it launches, it's going to be a cash cow. Trying to snatch food from a tiger's mouth is a risky business."

Did that mean he only wanted the bid price? Was he afraid to take on Steven, to compete with him in the overseas market? That wouldn't do!
