I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 548

Left?

Did he mean when I moved out in this life, or after I died in the last one?

His hand held mine tightly. A chill crept into my eyes, but I said nothing more.

"Oh."

Soon we were back at the villa. Nora was there, and the entire house was spotless. As we passed the garden outside, I stopped abruptly, my body rigid.

The once-empty garden was now filled with flowers I loved—rows of roses and peonies, orchids, osmanthus trees, and even fruit trees like orange and persimmon.

All of these required meticulous care.

My heart trembled as I remembered my past life. In the second year of my marriage to Steven, I had started gardening. Tending to flowers and trees gave me a sense of accomplishment, and helped pass the lonely hours I spent waiting for him to come home.

I used to long for him to praise my beautiful flowers. I dreamed of the fruit trees I planted growing day by day, blossoming, and bearing fruit. I wanted to pick the sweetest ones for him, to sit on the sofa with him in my arms, sharing them together.

But it never happened.

When our divorce talks broke down, he knew exactly how to twist the knife. He didn't throw me out violently; he just had people destroy my garden. No matter how much I begged, the flowers I had planted with my own hands were ripped out one by one and trampled into the dirt.

The orange tree I had painstakingly nurtured for three years was finally about to bear fruit, and he cut it down with a single stroke.

The tiny green fruits fell to the ground, rotting in the mud, just like my patched-up heart, which he had torn to shreds.

It was better not to think about it. But when I did, I truly hated Steven.

And his shamelessness in recreating the very things he had destroyed in our past life only made my hatred burn hotter.

Seeing me stop, Steven's handsome face tensed slightly.

"I saw the garden was empty, so I had some pretty flowers and a few fruit trees planted. Do you like it?"
