I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 566

Horace continued, "I'm guessing he threatened you with it on the wedding day, and that's why you left, right?"

Steven had threatened me with two things that day.

One was that Horace would become the most infamous other man in the country, his reputation ruined.

The other was my brother. If a scandal broke, it wouldn't just affect the Lopez family's business; my family would be worried sick.

I couldn't bear the consequences of either.

Setting aside the threat to Horace, what happened to my brother was supposed to be a closely guarded secret. If Horace knew, he must have uncovered something real.

I stared at Horace, my face grim. "Steven did mention my brother was in prison, but I didn't know he worked with Monica to do it. Do you have proof?"

Horace showed me a video on his phone.

"There's no definitive proof, but Steven's assistant, the man in this video, visited Monica's home shortly before your brother got into trouble. Then your brother went abroad to see Monica, and he ended up in prison. Zephyra, if someone wasn't pulling strings behind the scenes, do you really think something that coincidental could happen?"

My brother's trouble had been sudden and strange. I had suspected Steven, but he had no connection to Monica. And... lately, I'd felt that while Steven was ruthless, he clearly wanted to reconcile with me. Why would he send my brother to prison?

But as I watched the footage of Gordon, I clenched my fists and let out a bitter laugh.

In my past life, Steven came after me because I wouldn't agree to a divorce.

Now, he was coming after me because I wouldn't agree to get back together.
