I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 629

I must have said the wrong thing, because Steven, flustered and angry, threw me out of the room.

He didn't, however, throw out my pastries.

Steven is so stubborn. I've never met a man who gets angry so easily.

Then again... with my current memory, I haven't met many men at all.

I was in a good mood, so I went downstairs to see if there was anything good to eat. Nothing really appealed to my palate, so I asked the proprietor if I could borrow her kitchen.

She hadn't believed I could cook before, but after trying my pastries, she let me have free rein without a second thought.

In the room.

Steven stared at the pastries for a long time. Finally, he picked up one shaped like a cute little pig and ate it slowly.

In a dim corner of the room, unseen by anyone, the corners of his lips curved into a slight, gentle smile.

But a moment later, the ringing of his phone shattered the silence.

Steven glanced at the caller ID and answered.

Myron's voice came through the phone. "I went to see your grandfather, but you weren't there. I heard you're not at the office either. Everything okay?"

"I'm fine."

"Where are you?"

"Port Caldoria."

"Port Caldoria? What are you doing so far away?" Myron's tone changed, his conclusion immediate. "You found Zephyra, didn't you?"

Steven's eyes darkened for a fleeting moment, but his voice was calm.

"Yes."
