I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 822

I looked at Steven, a feeling of unease settling in. “Tell me your condition first.”

My heart was pounding. As much as I wanted to help Horace, I couldn't let Steven set just any condition. If it came down to it, I’d just have Horace lay low for a while.

Steven’s deep, obsidian eyes locked onto mine as he spoke slowly.

“You are never to see him again. Whatever happens to him will have nothing to do with you.”

I was momentarily stunned. I hadn’t expected that to be his demand.

To be honest, from the moment I found out Horace had drugged me, I had already decided to cut ties with him.

Who could accept someone who drugged them against their will, all under the guise of doing what was best for them?

Seeing my silence, Steven mistakenly thought I disagreed, and his face instantly darkened. “You’re not willing? Then there’s nothing more to discuss.”

His words snapped me back to reality, and I quickly spoke up.

“I agree! As long as you let him go this time, I will never see him again.”

I planned on telling Edith everything so she could talk some sense into Horace and convince him to stop antagonizing Steven.

Even though I had agreed, Steven’s expression didn’t improve. He laughed at himself.

“Horace was right. Even knowing he drugged you, you’d still protect him.”

He paused, a probing look in his eyes. “I want to know, if it were me who had done that, what would you do? Would you forgive me so easily?”

I looked at him seriously. “No. Whether it was you or Horace, I wouldn’t forgive it. But this is a separate issue.”

This was the last time I would repay Horace for saving my life.
