I was still trying to process what he’d said, but Gordon was looking at me with utmost seriousness.
“Mr. Lancaster drafted this agreement a long time ago and arranged the distribution of his assets. He gave me specific instructions to release this document if he ever found himself in an emergency. That’s why I was so anxious to contact Mr. Lancaster Sr.”
Hearing this, Mary grabbed Gordon’s arm, her face a mask of disbelief.
“Gordon, what are you talking about? Steven is dividing his assets?”
Thomas grew agitated as well. “Gordon, where’s the document? Let us see it right now.”
Gordon gently freed his arm from Mary’s grip, maintaining a professional distance.
“Mr. Lancaster has the original document stored securely. If he doesn’t wake up in the next couple of days, I will present it in the presence of a lawyer.”
Mary’s suspicious gaze darted between Gordon and me.
“Why wait two days? How will we know if the document is real or fake by then? This could just be a show you two cooked up to trick us.”
“By then, the Lancaster Group would fall right into your hands.”
My heart sank. When you have a dirty mind, you see dirt everywhere.
I shot back coldly, “Rest assured, I’m not like you. I don’t spend my time thinking about the Lancaster family fortune while Steven is lying unconscious.”
My words hit their mark, and Mary’s face flushed with anger. “Zephyra, this is none of your business! This is a Lancaster family matter!”
“Mom’s right. Zephyra, if you know what’s good for you, you’ll leave now. Otherwise, I’ll have security throw you out.”
Thomas smirked at me, looking as if he’d already won.
