Both Nina and William turned to stare at him.

Benjamin turned his head too, fixing Daniel with a look that needed no words: don’t even think about it.

He turned to the only ally left at the table. “Nina, I’m going to start a business. Will you support me?”

Nina had no clue what was going on. She just nodded enthusiastically. “Okay!”

Daniel’s eyes lit up. “Deal! You invest a little pocket money, and when I get rich, I’ll buy you a whole room full of excavators!”

The only part Nina caught was “excavators.”

Daniel pressed on shamelessly, “First, you have to give me some startup capital.”

Nina blinked, then shook her head. “Nina no money.”

Daniel sighed, “If you don’t invest, how can I buy excavators? Fine-no excavators then.”

“No!” Nina panicked instantly.

Her little mouth turned down, her eyes went red, and she stopped eating altogether.

“Buy! Buy toy!”

“Okay, okay, okay, I’ll buy.” Seeing Nina about to cry, Daniel didn’t dare tease her further.

He patted her chubby little hand and softened his voice to coax, “I will buy you two!”
