Chapter 314 Keep Her Given Name
The boys could also see that Nina had gotten thinner.
But it was just strange. Even though Nina had lost a little weight, she was still pretty heavy.
They still couldn’t hold her for very long.
With the three boys by her side, Nina enjoyed several more days of play.
She didn’t even go to daycare.

By the time her runny nose finally stopped, the banquet the Wilson family had prepared for Amelia was ready to begin.
The night before the event, Amelia tried on the formal gown Benjamin had bought for her.
She loved blue.
So, Benjamin had chosen a blue gown for her.
In the off-the-shoulder sapphire blue fishtail dress, Amelia looked as beautiful as a little mermaid emerging from the deep sea.
Nina, in a matching mini fishtail dress, looked more like a chubby little guppy.
The little guppy, unaware of the contrast, happily admired herself in the mirror, even cupping her cheeks. “Mommy, I am so pretty.”
Amelia looked at her, then couldn’t help but lean toward Benjamin. “Should we change her dress? I feel like this one makes her look a little… chubby.”
Nina did lose a couple of pounds when she was sick.
But with everyone at home feeding her, plus the Wilson family and her friends sneaking her treats, she’d gained every bit of it back—if anything, she was even chubbier now.
Amelia had leaned in very close to Benjamin.
Kissing her had become second nature to him.
Seeing her so near, he instinctively bent down and kissed her.
Nina, still in the room, spotted it immediately.
“No!” The little girl, who had just been admiring herself stopped and pushed Benjamin away, looking upset. “My mommy!”
Nina wouldn’t allow Benjamin to kiss Amelia.
Pushed by Nina, Benjamin raised an eyebrow at her profectiveness. The next second, he crouched down and kissed her chubby little cheek instead.
Nina wiped her cheek, now on high alert. “No kiss!”
Benjamin kissed her again.

This time. Nina covered her whole face with her hands.
Peeking through her fingers, she shooed him away. “Dadly go ‘way.”

The family of three played around in the room for a while before finally changing into pajamas for bed.
Before lights out, Amelia gave Nina a special reminder.
“Nina, tomorrow at Grandma’s house, there will be lots and lots of people. You have to be very good, okay? You need to be a good girl.”
“Okay.” Nina was always the fastest to agree to anything.
Whether she actually kept her promise was a whole other story.
Amelia knew her tendencies, but always laid out the rules beforehand.
This way, if Nina misbehaved later, Amelia could discipline her without hesitation.
After the bedtime talk, Amelia turned off the light and left Nina to herself.
Both adults closed their eyes and pretended to sleep.
Nina would roll around and play by herself on the bed. When no one paid her any attention, she’d eventually fall asleep.
Nina no longer needed to be held and rocked to sleep.
Amelia also didn’t dare to sing foreign language songs to her too often.
Daycare had started foreign language lessons, and kindergarten and elementary school would have them,
too.
If she got used to falling asleep to foreign language songs, that could get awkward in class.
As Nina flopped and kicked around, neither Amelia nor Benjamin spoke.
After some time, the rustling stopped.
Amelia, without turning on the main light, used the din glow of the nightlight to look.
Nina had, at some point, fallen asleep sprawled on Benjamin’s chest.
Even though she’d been mad at Benjamin before bed, she still wanted to sleep snuggled against him.
Nina’s logic was something Amelia would never fully understand.
She said, “Benjamin, roll her off. Let her sleep on her own side.”
Amelia knew he wouldn’t sleep well with her lying on him.
She urged Benjamin to move Nina.
Benjamin hadn’t planned to move her, but he glanced a Amelia and gently shifted Nina’s chubby body to the side.
