Nina fell into the water yesterday while feeding the fish but that didn’t stop her from wanting to go feed the fish again today.
She liked everything related to fish-feeding a fish, scooping a fish up, even fishing.
When Chloe saw that she still wanted to go feed the fish she refused point-blank to take her.
She said, “Nina, how about riding the electric bicycle instead? Let Grandpa take you on it, okay?”
Nina nodded. “Nina ride bike.”
Just as Chloe was about to relax, Nina added another sentence right on cue, “Ride bike. Go feed fish.”
Chloe had no idea what to do with her.
Once Nina dug in her heels, nothing they said or did could change her mind.
In the end, William came over and took her to the aquarium instead.
Chloe went along with them because she was afraid William might not be able to handle Nina on his own.
Because she needed to look after Nina, Chloe missed her appointment at the clinic.
She asked one of the house staff to go to the Traditional Medicine Clinic for her and buy the herbal patches Nina needed.
For two days in a row, Chloe stayed with Nina and didn’t go anywhere alone.
Brian, who had been waiting for her, never got to see her. When his patience ran out, all that resentment turned on Nina.
“It’s you again.” In the dim room, Brian muttered to himself, “You’re the one getting in my way.”
Brian felt that Nina was an obstacle.
Because of Nina, Chloe refused to meet him again.
Back when she was in the hospital, their relationship was clearly getting closer.
Then suddenly, because of Nina, everything fizzled out,
And now, once again, because of Nina, he couldn’t even get Chloe to come to him.
Nina kept getting in his way time and time again. For someone who was already unstable mentally, Brian finally reached his limit.
Instead of bringing Chloe back and keeping her to himself, what he wanted now was for Nina to disappear.
And there were countless ways to make Nina disappear
Felix’s aquarium had been one option-he had planned to do something there-but over the past two days, William had been keeping a close eye on Nina.
It didn’t matter that the aquarium plan failed-he still had other ideas, like Felix and Fiona’s engagement

banquet.
Their engagement banquet was coming up very soon.
Before Fiona and Felix’s engagement banquet arrived, Nina went back to daycare.

Nina had been away from daycare for a long time, and the kids there had all thought she wasn’t coming back anymore.
When Nina showed up, the whole class started crying.
Getting swept up in the moment, Nina sniffed and went around hugging every kid one at a time.
One kid asked, “Nina, eat snack?”
Nina said, “Want candy.”
Another kid said, “I have!”
The kids had brought snacks to daycare, and among them were candies.
Nina finally got her candy. She squinted happily, looking pretty pleased with herself.
With snacks to eat and toys to play with, Nina blended right back in, even though she hadn’t been around for a long time.
The only trouble came at nap time. Hugging her little dinosaur stuffed animal, she had a hard time falling asleep.
“I miss Mommy,” Nina spoke to Lucy at her bedside, her voice thick with sadness.
Lucy gently patted her and said softly, “Once you wake up, we’ll have a little snack and do some activities, and then it’ll be time to go home. When daycare’s over, you’ll see your mommy.”
Lucy’s voice was soft and patient, but Nina still lay there and cried for a while, tears streaming down her face.
The bed at home was different from the one at daycare, and the people who were with her at home were different from her daycare teachers.
Lately, Nina had gotten used to being tucked in by the adults at home. Suddenly, not having their familiar soothing made it hard for her to calm down here.
Lucy patted her for a long time. Eventually, she fell asleep with tears still on her cheeks.
Photos of every child after they fell asleep were supposed to be sent to their parents.
After Lucy took a photo of Nina and sent it to them, everyone in the Graham family saw it.
Amelia was the first to ask, “Did Nina cry?”
Nina’s eyelids looked red, like she had been crying.
Lucy replied, “She cried a little before falling asleep. She said she missed her mommy.”
Amelia felt a pang of heartache. Still, despite that, she didn’t suggest picking Nina up early.
