Chapter 387 What A Sweet Couple

“Daddy, Tina home?” Nina pleaded, wrapping her arms around Benjamin’s neck and pressing her chubby little cheek against his. “Go? Nina play.”

After a moment, she added with a sniffle, “Daddy, Nina wuv you.”

This whole routine-the cuddle, the plea, the declaration-was one of Nina’s go-to tactics. Benjamin knew it. Still, after a few seconds of silence, he accepted Elizabeth’s invitation.

He leaned closer to Amelia and said quietly, “Elizabeth’s mother and my mother were good friends once.”

Hearing that Benjamin knew about Elizabeth, Amelia stopped objecting to the visit.

She nodded. Along with Nelson, they followed Elizabeth back to her villa.

Elizabeth had once been named Marisavia’s highest-earning female singer. Her home reflected that with sheer luxury.

Amelia had seen glimpses of the house in one of Elizabeth’s videos.

She remembered feeling envious back then.

Now, about to see it in person, she couldn’t resist.

Sitting in the car, she texted Benjamin with a “Nina rolling around” meme, “Benjamin, this is incredible. I can’t believe I’m in Elizabeth’s car, on my way to her house. I like her so much

now.”

With Elizabeth also in the car, Amelia kept to her phone for the conversation.

While the adults texted, Nina-maybe from all the crying today or the big burst of activity- seemed unusually tired.

She rubbed her eyes, then plopped her little body against Benjamin’s chest and fell asleep.

Amelia saw her dozing but didn’t wake her.

Better get her up when we arrive.

Benjamin noticed Nina was asleep. Cradling her with one arm, he used his other hand to take off his jacket.

He draped it over her belly.

Nina ran warm and didn’t need it for cold, but he always felt better covering her tummy.

Ever since he’d started raising her, the fear of her catching a chill and getting sick was real.

Before having a child, he’d never worried about such things.

Now, with Nina, he felt constantly tethered.

The car continued on. Benjamin held Nina close and stopped texting. He switched to speaking with Amelia, the two chatting softly in a familiar, intimate way.

Elizabeth watched their closeness from the front, a slight smile touching her lips.

What a sweet couple.

A while later, the car reached its destination.

Benjamin carried Nina out.

He and Amelia both tried to wake her.

But Nina didn’t stir right away.

In her dream, she was playing with Violet.

Violet was stuck in a room and couldn’t get out.

Nina saw that Violet wanted to leave, so she tried to open the door.

But she couldn’t get it open either.

Since she couldn’t open the door, Nina just went back to sit beside Violet, keeping her

company.

The two didn’t speak the same language, but that didn’t stop them from being together.

While keeping Violet company, Nina saw Julie bringing food.

Violet and Julie got into a loud argument.

Nina, hidden by Violet, got a clear look at Julie’s face.

“Nina, Nina, wake up,” Amelia called gently. “Nina, don’t you want to get up and play?”

Still lost in the dream, Nina was finally roused.

She rubbed her eyes and stared blankly for a moment.

“Violet,” she murmured, calling for Violet.

She called out once, and Elizabeth, holding Tina, misheard and responded to her.

Nina processed this slowly, then said, “Tina.”

Tina absolutely adored Nina.

She’d already tried to carry her earlier but couldn’t manage it.

Now, seeing Nina awake, Tina took her little hand.

The two girls held hands briefly before the adults separated them to usher everyone inside to play.

At home, Elizabeth had already arranged everything.

The grand living room was fully decorated. Nina’s eyes went wide.

“Pwetty,” she said.

Kids loved bright, colorful things, and Nina was no exception.

She squirmed to get down from Benjamin’s arms. Once on the floor, she toddled around, touching everything with pure delight.

After a while, Tina led Nina to a room to see her bubble-blowing baby sister, Anya Turner.
