Chapter 399 Missed You Terribly

Her eyes opened. Before she could even see Trevor clearly, she called out the children’s names.
“Nelson. Nina,” Grace called for them.
Hearing her voice, Nelson quickly tucked his little hand into hers. “Mommy, I’m here.”
Nelson leaned close so Grace could see him.
Seeing him there eased her worry a little.
She called for Nina again.
Pushing down his own sadness, Nelson tried to comfort her, “They’re already gone to find Nina. Mommy, don’t worry.”
Nelson still didn’t know how to act around Trevor very well.
But with Grace, he tried to copy Nina.
Nina was his model for everything.
Besides just copying her, Nelson also felt a natural closeness to Grace.
“Mommy, you hurt? I can call the doctor.” Nelson’s eyes were fixed on Grace. He forgot to introduce Trevor.
It was Trevor who couldn’t stand it any longer and broke into their moment. “Grace, do you remember me?”
Trevor already knew from Nelson that Grace had lost her memory, so he asked the question directly.
He needed to know if she’d forgotten him and that was why she hadn’t come back, or if she remembered him but forgot the child.
Trevor’s voice sounded calm, but Nelson saw his large hand trembling.
He kept a straight face, not pointing out Trevor’s nervousness.
Grace looked up at the sound of Trevor’s voice.
Their eyes met. When Grace saw Trevor’s handsome face clearly, her heart skipped several
beats.

That face of his was truly something else.

No wonder Nina, such a sucker for pretty faces, had instantly warmed up to him and stuck
close.
Nina was hopeless when it came to looks.
“Grace?” Under her gaze, Trevor waited a moment, then couldn’t help prompting her.
Grace blinked.
She shook her head. “I don’t remember you.”
Even though Grace didn’t remember Trevor, she knew one thing clearly.
I really like this face.
Seeing him made her happy.
So, despite not remembering, she offered him a smile. “Are you my husband? Did something happen that separated us?”
That word, “husband,” made Trevor’s eyes
redden.
He bent down, not caring that Nelson was right there, and pulled Grace into his arms, his voice nearly choking. “Yes, Grace. I’m your husband. I’m sorry I’m so late.”
He held her tightly. Grace hesitated, then hugged him back.
But she only used one arm for a brief, light embrace.
A few seconds later, she pushed him away.
Her other hand was still holding Nelson’s small one.
Trevor, being pushed away, looked somewhat unwilling.
But Grace didn’t seek more closeness. She turned her attention to Nelson. “Nelson, your face is very red.”
Grace studied his little face, her brow furrowing.
Trevor glanced over as well.
He said mildly, “He’s probably shy. He’s missed you terribly.”
Grace stayed silent.

She watched for a few more seconds.
Then, decisively, she pressed the call button by the bed.
As she called for a doctor or nurse, she spoke to Trevor, “He’s not shy. He has a fever. Quick, take him to see a doctor.”
They had fled through pouring rain. Neither Grace nor Nina had come through unscathed. Nelson was only four years old-how could he possibly be completely fine?
He was running a fever, too.
Thankfully, Grace noticed something was wrong because Nelson hadn’t said a word.
He knew he didn’t feel good, but he just wanted to stay with Grace, so he hadn’t mentioned it.
The adult and two children from the escape had fallen ill.
Back at the estate, Nina’s fever had spiked again.
She had been watching TV, then gradually slumped against Catherine and fell asleep.
Catherine didn’t have anyone move her.
