Chapter 425 Wanna Fight?

Since Catherine was taking Nina, Daniel and Benjamin didn’t insist on going.

Benjamin wasn’t pushing to join mainly because he had other things to handle.

Xavier had nowhere left to run.

Benjamin needed to settle things with Xavier.

Nina wasn’t the least bit sad that her parents and uncle weren’t coming.

Sitting in Catherine’s lap, she said goodbye to each adult cheerfully.

“Daddy bye!

“Mommy bye!

“Un-coo Dan’el bye!”

After her goodbyes, she pressed her chubby little cheek against Catherine’s face.

“Grandma, Nelson come?” she asked. “With Nelson.”

Nina’s request worked much better than anything Daniel could have said.

Catherine looked down at Nelson.

Nelson’s face was quite likable too.

Catherine normally didn’t enjoy babysitting. She found it bothersome. Taking Nina was already an exception.

But after glancing at the quiet boy, then at Nina who was reaching her little hand out toward him, Catherine was silent for a few seconds before finally agreeing with a quiet “Hmm.”

Nelson had much more freedom to go out than Nina. Back home, he often went out on his own -though, of course, someone was always tailing him.

Both children left with Catherine.

Grace was much more perceptive than Trevor. She even thanked Catherine before they left.

Once Catherine and the kids were gone, the adults could finally enjoy some peace and quiet without little ones around.

Meanwhile, in the car, Nina was busy chatting up the driver.

Catherine’s drivers were usually very quiet.

But this time, with Nina there and Catherine’s permission, the driver dropped his usual serious demeanor and chatted warmly with her.

Nelson acted as translator, and Nina talked up a storm the whole ride.

After chatting all the way there, as they were getting out, Nina pulled a small packet of snacks from her pocket and handed it to the driver.

She always carried lots of these little snacks.

Nina owned tons of snacks and was often generous about sharing them.

The driver accepted the gift, visibly flattered.

Catherine gave the driver a look.

Understanding her glance, the driver knew he could expect a bonus this month. He was thrilled.

While the driver was still outside feeling excited, Catherine-carrying Nina and with Nelson in tow-had already stepped into Arthur’s home.

The Bernard family had many members in politics, and several familiar faces from television were present.

Nina only watched cartoons, so she didn’t recognize any of these important adults.

Once inside, she stayed in Catherine’s arms. It wasn’t until she spotted other kids that she squirmed to get down.

“Grandma, down.”

“Alright. Be careful and play safe,” Catherine replied, setting Nina down so she and Nelson could go play with the other children.

Just then, Anthony and Arthur approached.

They exchanged brief pleasantries with Catherine.

Catherine went to take a seat, and as she did, she spotted Lester in the crowd. He was also attending the engagement party.

Catherine had no dealings with Lester, so they didn’t speak.

While Catherine sat, Nina and Nelson, holding hands, had already run over to where the other kids were playing.

Nina, the little social butterfly, immediately wanted to join their game.

The children here were all locals.

Nina, with her foreign features, had a very pretty face, but it also made her an object of curiosity.

“Your eyes and hair are pretty,” one boy said, reaching out to touch her hair. He tried to touch her eyes, too.

Nina didn’t like that.

She turned her face away, and when he tried again, she pushed him hard with both hands.

“No touch!”

Nina was strong for her age. Her shove sent the boy tumbling to the ground.

The boy sat on the floor, stunned for a second before scowling, “You brat! Wanna fight?”
