She thought, Let him come. Maris is probably already caught by Solantian’s werewolves.
Silas wouldn’t let her go.
During the earlier chaos, Laila had been keeping an eye on Maris.
So the very moment a pack of werewolves drew Maris away, she noticed it.
But she did nothing. She just coldly withdrew her gaze.
At that moment, Samuel had also looked at her.
Clearly, he noticed too.
But he said nothing as well.
At this moment, Maris had already been tied up by Solantian’s soldiers with silver chains around her hands and feet.
Her feet were bleeding, pierced with shards of silver.
The burning pain twisted her face.
She kept calling for Holt using mind link, begging him to save her.
But her pleas hit only silence.
She even wondered if Holt was doing it on purpose.
Ignoring her on purpose, letting her die here, so he’d have a reason to go after Laila again.
Anger twisted her heart like poisonous vines.

can’t shift…”
“Damn it! Those filthy bastards!” Maris spat, her anger boiling.
Not long ago, she had seen a small group of werewolves seemingly retreat from the town, looking beaten and clumsy. She thought it was the perfect chance-just like the last raid-to capture a high-ranking enemy and use them to force the Ovilan’s army off the battlefield.

The raging Alpha hit her like solid pressure, instantly scattering her team.
In less than fifteen minutes, she was caught.

Most of the soldiers with her were torn apart by claws. Only eighteen survived and were thrown into a cabin deep in the mountains with her.
As her thoughts spiraled, the wooden door was pushed open.
A tall figure stepped in against the light, moving slowly, carrying the unmistakable pressure of a predator.
He stopped in front of Maris, casting her in shadow.
When she saw his face clearly, her pupils shrank. He looked so much like the one from the Lovanfall Battlefield!
He called coldly. “Maris! You finally fell into my hands.”
Maris’s legs went weak. “W-who are you? What do you want?”
“Me?”
Casper Osborne, second son of the Alpha King of the Solantia Kingdom, leaned down. His beast-like eyes were filled with a hatred so heavy it felt almost solid, as if he wanted to tear her apart piece by piece. “I’m here to make you pay for what you did to my brother!”
Maris’s face went pale instantly.
Of course she remembered what she had done to him.
Back then, that young alpha lieutenant had led over a hundred soldiers. He was brave, and in the fight they had killed a few of her men before retreating.
But her instincts had told her that this lieutenant wasn’t ordinary!
