My ex husband wants me back (Daven and Althea) novel Chapter 660

Chapter 660

“Didn’t you get enough of the Pergamon Museum yesterday?” Andrew asked lightly, his tone easy and cheerful.

He didn’t mind taking her anywhere she wanted to go. After all, they only had two days left before returning home. And as a good guide, he intended to make the most of it-whatever Lydia needed, he would provide.

“You could say that,” Lydia replied calmly, her gaze drifting out the window. The ride felt almost soothing after spending nearly two hours wandering through the mall.

She hadn’t bought much. Nothing that truly caught her interest.

Her mind had already moved elsewhere-back to the museum. Back to a quiet hope she couldn’t quite explain.

If her instincts were right… Naomi would be working today.

And she would see her again.

“Would you like me to recommend another museum?” Andrew offered.

“No,” Lydia said, shaking her head slightly. “It would be better if you recommended a quiet café. Somewhere I can enjoy a cup of hot chocolate.”

“Of course.”

The car continued forward at a steady pace, and before long, they entered the museum grounds.

The moment Lydia stepped inside for the second time, her pace slowed.

Andrew followed a few steps behind, giving her space without ever truly letting his guard down. The atmosphere remained unchanged-quiet, refined, with only a handful of visitors scattered throughout the halls.

But Lydia wasn’t here for the exhibits. Her purpose was much simpler. She was here for someone. And she found her sooner than expected.

Naomi stood along a side corridor, dressed in a plain uniform, her hair tied back carelessly. Her hands moved as she tidied up her cleaning supplies, and every now and then, she hummed softly under her breaths, faint it was almost lost to the silence.

A small habit.

One that made her seem… real.

“Naomi.”

The sound of Lydia’s voice startled her. Naomi turned quickly, her eyes widening for a brief moment before recognition settled in.

“Ma’am…?” she said hesitantly.

A faint smile touched Lydia’s lips. “You don’t have to call me that.”

Naomi looked a little awkward, but this time, she didn’t step back. “I didn’t expect to see you again.”

“Neither did I,” Lydia replied lightly. She took a step closer, careful to keep a comfortable distance between them. “Why did you disappear so suddenly yesterday?” Her gaze lingered, quietly probing.

Naomi offered an uneasy smile. “I… still had a lot of work to finish.”

Lydia let out a soft breath. “Alright. I understand.”

Relief flickered across Naomi’s face. “And what brings you here today? Visiting the museum again?”

“Not exactly.” Lydia’s smile carried a hint of meaning this time. “What time do you finish work?”

Naomi blinked, clearly puzzled. “Maybe… another hour or two? But I still have to go to my other job afterward.”

Lydia stared at her, caught off guard. “How many jobs do you even have?”

Naomi gave a small smile-thin, almost brittle, with a trace of something bitter beneath it. “Enough to

survive.”

Lydia didn’t respond right away. She simply nodded, as if she understood without needing any further explanation. And somehow, that quiet acceptance made Naomi’s shoulders ease just a little-as though a weight she didn’t have to put into words had finally been acknowledged.

“The museum is beautiful,” Lydia said after a moment, gently steering the conversation elsewhere. Her gaze drifted across the room, taking in the space with quiet admiration. “But I don’t really understand much of its history.”

Naomi let out a soft chuckle. “Neither do I. I just clean the parts most people don’t bother walking through.”

“The parts no one sees?”

“Yeah.”

Lydia studied her for a brief second, something in her gaze deeper than simple curiosity. Then she smiled. “Sometimes, the unseen parts are the most interesting.”

She glanced at the watch on her wrist, the movement subtle but deliberate. “Would you mind if we continued this conversation at a café? It doesn’t feel very comfortable talking here.”
