My ex husband wants me back (Daven and Althea) novel Chapter 796

“What’s going on here?”

Everyone turned toward the sound. Chris stood there holding a cup of coffee. “What kind of conversation has everyone looking so serious?”

“Naomi doesn’t want to go camping,” Grace reported without hesitation.

Chris raised an eyebrow. “Oh? Is that true?”

“I just don’t want to be a burden.”

Chris flashed a broad grin. “Wow, you’re really bad at making excuses, aren’t you? If I were you, I’d come up with something much more believable. A stomachache, for example.”

Naomi immediately narrowed her eyes, clicked her tongue in annoyance, and said in a slightly sarcastic tone, “Thank you for your support.”

“You’re welcome.” Chris casually sipped his coffee. Then he walked over to them and chose a seat near Josh. After that, he casually asked, “Or are you actually scared?”

Naomi immediately turned to look at him. “Scared of what?”

“The forest.”

Josh, who knew his uncle well enough by now, immediately smiled. Meanwhile, Eli slowly closed her book. They all knew Chris was looking for trouble.

“I’m not scared,” Naomi replied confidently. “What exactly am I supposed to be afraid of on a camping trip?”

“Really?” Chris squinted at her skeptically.

“Of course.”

“Hm.” Chris did not look convinced. “The campsite just happens to be fairly close to the forest.”

“So?”

“It gets dark at night.”

Naomi snorted. “I know the definition of night.”

“And sometimes there are strange sounds. Not to mention all the insects you hear after dark.” Chris put on a creepy expression. “And then there are the stories the locals talk about the edge of the forest where we’ll be camp—”

“You think I’m scared of your nonsense?” Naomi shot back with an irritated look. “I’m not a coward at all.”

“Then why don’t you want to go?” Chris leaned back casually against the sofa. “I can’t accept the reason you gave earlier. So... tell us the real reason if you’re truly not afraid.”

Naomi’s hands clenched into fists. She glared at Chris in disbelief. How could there possibly be a man as annoying as Chris? Cale was annoying, but Chris was somehow even worse. Were those two brothers born with some kind of natural talent for being insufferable?

“Well, look at that. You’re not saying anything, so—”

“I’m going,” Naomi said firmly. “I’ll prove that I’m not afraid.”

The girl genuinely wanted to throw a pillow straight at Chris’s face.

“Wow! We’ve got another member joining us, kids.”
