My ex husband wants me back (Daven and Althea) novel Chapter 806

Morning arrived with an atmosphere far calmer than the night before.

A thin layer of mist still hung above the surface of the river, forming a white veil that drifted slowly with the morning breeze. The mountain air was cold yet refreshing. Most of the campers were still asleep inside their tents after spending a long night around the campfire.

Althea was one of the first people to wake up.

As she was about to leave the tent, she found that Chase had just woken up as well. The little boy still looked sleepy. His eyes were half-closed, while his arms were lazily wrapped around his mother's neck as Althea carried him.

“Are you still sleepy?” Althea whispered, gently stroking her son's hair. “Do you still want to sleep?”

Chase merely mumbled softly in response before burying his face in Althea's shoulder.

The woman's smile immediately widened. “Or do you want to enjoy the morning with me?”

A hoarse voice, rough from just waking up, came from behind her. “You're not inviting me?”

Althea turned and laughed softly. “I thought you still wanted to sleep.”

Daven followed Althea out of the tent. His hair was still slightly messy, but it did nothing to diminish the neat appearance that always seemed to cling to him. He walked over and kissed the top of Chase's head, though the boy did not even open his eyes in response.

Then he handed over a thick jacket, worried that his youngest son might get cold. “Good morning, champ.”

There was no answer. Chase merely shifted slightly before settling comfortably back into Althea's arms.

“I think I lost,” Daven said.

Althea frowned, questioning what Daven meant.

“He chose his mother instead.”

Althea shook her head in amusement before beginning to walk along the riverbank. Daven followed a few steps behind them. Not too close, but close enough to make sure the two of them remained within his sight.

The morning felt incredibly peaceful.

The sun had not fully risen yet. Golden light was still shyly filtering through the gaps between the pine trees surrounding the campsite. The gentle murmur of the river blended with the sounds of birds beginning to stir and welcome the morning.

Althea stopped near a cluster of small stones. “Chase, look.”
