When Peter saw Ann, who looked a little overdressed, he shot York a suggestive look.
“I’ll leave the RV to you two. I’ll go eat out.”
York reached out and yanked Peter back. “You can eat here.”
Peter was baffled by York's unusual behavior but obediently got into the RV.
York gestured toward the back of the vehicle, and Ann quickly followed.
On the other side of the RV was a greenbelt.
Seeing York’s terrifyingly cold expression, Ann quickly held out the lunch box in her hands.
“I went home at noon just to make this for you. I wanted you to try it.”
York didn't take the lunch box she offered.
He reminded her, “Did I not tell you that we are not to meet outside of our one-hour dinner on Friday nights?”
Ann’s eyes reddened with hurt on the spot.
She ventured cautiously, “But we’re dating. I just want more opportunities to spend time with you. Is it wrong for me to take the initiative to see you?”
York warned her, “I only agreed to try dating you. The one-hour dinner each week is more than enough for us to get to know each other. That was our agreement beforehand.”
Ann felt a surge of resentment.
In a careful tone, she said, “York, we’ve been dating for two months. You do nothing but graciously spare an hour to have dinner with me on Fridays. You don’t see me any other time, you won’t let us go public, and you don’t even chat on your phone. I don’t feel like we’re dating at all.”
From the moment she learned of York's identity, she had been scheming to get close to him.
She finally managed to become his savior, carefully disguised her intentions while pursuing him for a year, and he finally agreed to try dating her for a year to get to know her.
She had to seize this opportunity, no matter what.
