York's brow furrowed slightly as he leaned over to buckle Claudia's seatbelt.

“Calm down first,” he told her. “We’ll talk when we get home.”

York already had a good idea of what was happening.

It wasn't that the Watkins Group family was in trouble, but that the Watkins Group was facing a crisis.

Three days prior, all of his accounts had suddenly been frozen by his grandfather and father, leaving him with only a credit card with a fifty-thousand-dollar limit. They had also suspended his appointment as CEO of the Ferguson Group.

They had ordered him to find a way to bring his mother and sister back first.

It was a clear move to prevent him from using his corporate power to help the Watkins Group get through this ordeal.

On the way, Claudia learned that York had moved out of the Ferguson Mansion.

She was a little upset that he had moved without telling her. If her mind weren't so preoccupied, her usual personality would have already sparked a fight with him.

York took Claudia to his private residence at Blue Bay.

Claudia stood stubbornly at the door, refusing to go in.

After a moment's hesitation, York registered her fingerprint for the door. “From now on, you don't have to wait for me. You can come in whenever you want.”

Only then did she enter, satisfied.

York found a spare pair of his slippers from the shoe cabinet for her to wear.

He led her into the living room. “Tell me properly. What exactly happened at home?”

Claudia grasped York’s hand, her expression one of utter misery. “York, an engineer at the Watkins Group accidentally leaked core company data, causing massive losses. A rival company is kicking us while we’re down, demanding ten times the damages, and they've teamed up with a dozen other companies to maliciously underbid my dad on his projects.”

Her voice broke as tears welled up in her eyes. “If I hadn't overheard my parents talking, I would have been kept completely in the dark. I don't know what to do, so I came to find you!”

Claudia threw herself into York's arms, sobbing uncontrollably.

York pulled a tissue from the box and offered it to her. “Sit up and wipe your tears.”

Instead, Claudia buried her face in his chest, smearing tears and snot all over his shirt.

York’s hand, holding the tissue, paused in mid-air for a few seconds. He then placed it on the coffee table and let her ruin his shirt.

He comforted her, “You don’t need to worry about business matters. If you want to help your parents, focus all your energy on your studies and don't cause them any more trouble.”
