Theresa: “...”
Logan stepped forward, sizing Richard Blake up. “Mr. Blake, this lady came here to discuss business. There’s an old saying: Even if the deal falls through, basic decency remains. It’s just work. If you don’t want to cooperate, fine—end of story. So why bring out this many men?”
Theresa tugged at Logan’s sleeve.
“Don’t tell me you’re going to back down to him?”
If that was the case, they might as well call the police. She’d lose all respect for Logan.
Logan didn’t answer. He kept his eyes on Richard Blake, negotiating.
Richard Blake took it as fear and grew even more arrogant. “Your little saying makes sense. You can go. She stays—so I can get revenge and settle my anger. I’m giving you one last chance: leave now. Otherwise don’t blame me for being rude. Today, neither of you is walking out of here.”
Logan gave a disdainful laugh. “No, Mr. Blake—you’ve got it backwards. I’m the one giving you a last chance, not the other way around. Let us go now, and we can still speak civilly the next time we meet.”
“You cocky little bastard,” Richard Blake snapped. “I’ve been running Cresden City for years and I’ve never heard of you. Today I’ll teach you a lesson you won’t forget!”
He waved a hand, still clutching his injured groin.
Logan’s gaze turned ice-cold. “Fine. Then today, I’m taking her with me—no matter what.”
He lowered his voice to Theresa. “Stay close. Don’t leave my side.”
He took her hand and headed for the door.
Even if there wasn’t a path, he’d carve one out.
This was nothing—just clearing thorns and cutting brush.
The bodyguards rushed them. Logan sent the first few flying with one hand.
More than a dozen men tried to block them. Logan fought while shielding Theresa, forcing their way forward step by step.
But there were too many. Someone slipped past and went for Theresa.
That guard had a dagger—driving straight for her heart.
Logan threw his arm around her, pulling her into his chest, and took the blow for her.
The dagger plunged into his arm.
Logan only frowned slightly. He lifted his leg and kicked the dagger out of the guard’s hand, sending it clattering to the floor.
