Only one thought echoed in Lorna's mind. She was doomed.
It was entirely over.
Wasn't Victor supposed to be away on a business trip? Why was he back so soon? This wasn't supposed to happen!
All the color drained from her face.
"Well, it's quite lively in here today," Victor said, a warm, fatherly smile on his face. "What are all these people doing? A party?"
He was nothing like the intimidating, ruthless billionaire they had imagined. He seemed remarkably approachable.
Eager to impress, Charles quickly stepped forward to defend Lorna.
"Mr. Ellington, you're back just in time," Charles said smoothly. "Lorna invited us over, but this woman is pretending to be your daughter. She's claiming this is her house and bullying Lorna. Lorna is too kind-hearted to hold it against her, but this woman won't let it go. You have to step in and handle this!"
Victor frowned slightly. "Who? Who is pretending to be my daughter?"
Lorna was shaking so hard she felt like she might throw up. This was it. She wanted to sob.
Charles pointed directly at Theresa. "Her! The one right next to you. She's been impersonating your daughter all night."
Victor glanced at Theresa. He understood the situation immediately.
Theresa lifted her chin, looking proud. Any second now, her father was going to clear her name and expose these fools.
Arthur looked agonizingly guilty. "Chairman..."
"Alright, I think I know my own daughter," Victor interrupted smoothly. "You're absolutely right. She is an imposter."
Arthur and Lorna both stared at him, utterly stunned.
Theresa's jaw dropped.
"Dad, are you kidding?" she blurted out. "You're saying I'm a fake? Why?"
