Richard watched the confrontation with a cold and detached expression. He reached out and tapped the middle-aged man on the shoulder. "Let me talk to her. We do not need this turning into a complete disaster."

He knew exactly what his uncle was up to. The man was just as selfish and venomous as Renee. Ever since he realized the Stint family succession would never fall to him, he had been looking for any opportunity to tear the family down from within.

The older man’s eyes flashed with a lethal glint, but he stepped back and released Renee’s chin.

Richard looked down at her with narrow and indifferent eyes. "I know why you are refusing to sign. You are worried about Jane. But look at the situation. You are being taken into custody today regardless of what you do. Once you are locked away, you can not do a single thing for her. Let us make a deal. Sign the papers and I will personally ensure Jane gets the help she needs."

Renee stared up at him with a sharp and suspicious gaze. "Why should I believe a word you say?"

"Because you have no other choice," Richard said bluntly. "Jane carries Stint blood. My grandfather will not sit back and watch her die. If we take her back to Radovia, we can mobilize every resource we have to find a cure. Do you really think anyone else here is going to help you?"

"Is that the truth?" Renee hesitated.

Richard’s words had finally struck a nerve. She knew she could not count on the Lindt family and Lilian hated her too much to ever lift a finger for Jane. After running through every possibility, she realized Richard was her only gamble. He had always despised her, but Jane was family. That was an undeniable fact.
