Rewrite Her Thrilling Life (Lillian and Sebastian) novel Chapter 854

Lilian set her tray down and said casually, "Let them talk. You can't exactly go around taping everyone’s mouths shut. There’s a saying: if you want to be happy, don't argue with fools, don't try to reason with idiots, and don't debate morality with people who don't have any. If you spent your whole life worrying about their opinions, you'd never get a moment of peace."

Isabelle chimed in, "Exactly. Why give them the time of day? When life throws garbage at you, you have to learn to stay calm and composed. The world is full of different kinds of pond scum; you can't possibly defend against them all."

Elsie laughed. "Alright, I guess I need to learn to be a bit more thick-skinned. Otherwise, this is going to exhaust me."

The three of them finished getting their food and found a table to sit down.

Elsie looked at Lilian. "By the way, I haven't had a chance to ask—did everything turn out okay for you in the end?"

Lilian smiled. "I'm fine. If I weren't, I wouldn't be sitting here in front of you. But I really have to thank you for storming the boardroom for me."

"You heard about that?" Elsie asked, her smile turning sheepish.

Lilian glanced at Isabelle. "I barely set foot back on campus before Isabelle gave me a play-by-play of your heroic deeds. I was moved to tears."

"I was just desperate," Elsie admitted with a chuckle. "I couldn't stop thinking about the look on your face when you left, and before I knew it, I’d lost all sense of caution and just barged in. Looking back, I’m actually terrified. You have no idea what it was like in there—it was like a miniature UN summit. Everyone looked so grave. The sheer intensity of that room still makes me shiver when I think about it."

Lilian gave her a playful look. "Oh, come on, Elsie. You’ve always been the bold one. Since when does a little boardroom meeting scare you that much?"

Lilian then remembered—The God of War was indeed in the middle of a massive promotional tour, and as the producer, Cameron would be incredibly busy.

"Are you really not going to tell him? I’m worried this Emily girl might try something else behind your back."

Elsie shrugged. "Whatever. Half the school is already calling me names; I don't care if they get louder. Like you said, I can't stop them, so let them do what they want. But based on what you said earlier, you seem to know something. Who exactly is this Ivy?"

"You don't know Ivy?" Lilian asked, surprised. "I thought you said Cameron gave you the full rundown of his past. How could you not know about her?"
